Black Lives Matter

Racism has been one of the biggest issues in the United States nowadays. The video of George Floyd's death brought us to retain more about racism and injustice on African American people. From the slavery era to now in the 2020s they are the one who is suffering from being judged by others, discrimination and injustice here in America just because of their skin color. Indeed, it is painful to admit when three or four times more so for the black community as opposed to other people, when the black community gets less access to health care & government benefits. And the black community gets less informed regarding any issues. However, the solicitudes are authorities/governments are responding to polices brutality.

From the Washington Post report, for instance, coronavirus there are some reasons that it is hitting black communities so hard that it is killing black Americans at a faster rate than any other group. Some main reasons behind this which include: black American has a higher rate of underlying health condition, and received less facility health care systems - In 2014 the study portrayed that the hospital in the black neighborhoods is more inclined to shut down then the white neighborhoods which make it difficult for them to get access to health care near where they live. The study also shows that there is an absolute preference when it comes to the health care provider, there's a bias toward white patients over the color patients. Black Americans perform the essential jobs - they most likely to work in jobs where they have to be in close contact with others which makes practicing social distancing almost impossible. As Preston Mitchum, policy director for Urge states that "black communities are not socially distancing.... because many of us are essential workers or working gig jobs to sustain our living. These jobs require more in-person interaction." And Housing incongruities - the people who are the color they tend to line in a compact place where they double and triple up when it comes to unaffordable rent. This makes it difficult to practice social distance. Therefore, they are the ones who are at a higher chance for the risk of getting the virus-like COVID-19.

Referring to the article called "Racism, Inequality, and Health Care for African Americans" the health care system is plagued with disparities that affect so negatively on people of color. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has supported health care coverage for millions of Americans. However, the uninsured rate within the African Americans declined after the law was passed. Only 2.8 million African Americans gained coverage under the ACA out of 20 million. Still, this amount of population is more perhaps to be uninsured than white Americans. Inequalities still exist when it comes to African Americans and whites that include maternal mortality, infant mortality, heart disease, and many more. As racism is creating obstacles to economic opportunity and unevenness specifically on black there are well-documented examples that are economic disadvantages, inequalities in education, and also in the healthcare system, this is the gravest and barrier for a person to lead a healthy and productive life. It is also a tremendous measure when the statistic has shown that in 2018 the poverty rate and income inequality among African Americans. The poverty rate was 20.8 which is higher than any other ethical group, and more than twice rate the poverty rate of whites. As for the income that is significantly lower than the white households since they tend to get less and even while considering education levels jobs.

According to the article called "Antibrutality Campaigns", unfair or unreasonable and often illegal use of force against the civilians by the U.S police officers. Reports of police brutality have extended from assault to mayhem, torture, and murder, particularly on the African Americans. The variety race among groups that have been defeated to police brutality in the USA, wistfully the bulk of victims are African American. Prejudice is taking part in police brutality that racism is an influential cause of this ethnic group. The system of police brutality to any incident rise that was variable and usually not limited to physical assaults but also included forbidden arrests, linguistic abuse, and threats. Additionally, now in 2020 police from in Arizona released details of the killing of another African American on May 25th, the same day as Floyd. Another video was released that was in Buffalo where 75 old men approached police officers enforcing a curfew. As they move forward, pushing him back that causes him to fall on the ground and bleeding from his head (BBC News, 2020). Besides this, it is uncertain that there may be more incidents are occurring as the protester are protesting on the street demanding justice for Floyd and to get freed from the racism. Since there is a possibility that media is not covering all the news or they are not reprinting to public.

The concern must be affirmed that is what changes are authorities/government are making in the recent incident of George Floyd. Even though any steps that would be too delayed to unthinkable before Floyd's death Los Angeles' Mayer offered to cut up to $150 million from the police department's from $3 billion budget. New York City suggests a 5% to 7% cut for all the agencies out of $5.9 billion. California's governor ordered to train the police to stop teaching neck holds. The new policy begins on June 9th that officers would face a consequence if they do not try to stop colleagues from any unlawful offense (Dave, 2020). Some other activities that can be taken as a solution to police brutality and racism is a concerted effort to guard the justice system is that organizations should continue to push for greater transparency in the police force (Pramuk, 2020). As for legislation, lawmakers should change the standards to charge a police officer for criminal misconduct so that cops can be easily prosecuted if it is necessary (Pramuk, 2020). The Federal and State governments should also try to implement the Initiative 940, or the I-940, or the Law Enforcement and Community Safety Act.

In conclusion, based on the recent incident of George Floyd's death we cannot just criticize the entire African American nor we cannot blame the entire police department. There should be an equilibrium between them. Utterly we shouldn't do any injustice to them who are colored. Their community shouldn't be encountered to get less access to health care & government benefits.
